Receiving and taking corrections...

Giving corrections

Correct in love, wisely and with respect…no shaming, name calling, lest you become an antagonist rather than a counsellor.
Ephesians 4:29, 2nd Timothy 2:24-25

Make sure you know who you are willing to correct before starting up any conversation. Not everyone is ready to listen to you and you can't force anything down their throats !! Proverbs 9:8

Have a clear objective, know the why and the results you want, before you give yourself the permission to correct anyone…else it might end up in a contest of "who has offended more "

Correct bearing in mind that you are not void of mistakes….
Correct and be ready to listen patiently.
Do not regard anyone as an enemy, in your doubts dare to correct them like they were your own brother or sister
2 thess 3:15

Receiving corrections

Bear in mind that:

Corrections can come from anybody, even from people you don't consider friends or close associates of any kind.
Infact sometimes God uses your "persona non grata", the so called "small" people to correct Don't take things too personal. Pick the essential truth and let the rest slide for your own sanity's sake.

Sometimes corrections may be done with ulterior motives…
What matters in the end dear receiver, is that you take the correction in wisdom and forge ahead without thinking of who the messenger is or why they feel like correcting you. (Remember proverbs 15:32, 8:33..).
Mistakes receivers make most times is to forget the message, and analyze the messenger like FBI.
In the end, one don't learn but grow bitter, very unteachable and even very petty…..(The "who are you to correct me" folks )

….

Finally,
Dear counsellor and receiver, remain humble and teachable.
In love, ALL is saved; in hatred and deadly pettiness, ALL is lost.
